Cloudveil was founded in 1997 by two outdoor enthusiasts who loved backcountry skiing and alpine climbing. The two realized they could start a business that thought "outside the box" and created innovative, performance-oriented outdoor clothing. To this day, Cloudveil strives to stay ahead of the pack when it comes to outdoor clothing. They sure do have big goals. Usually my goals involve watching the longest marathon ever of my favorite movie.
Cloudveil basically started the phenomenon of today's soft shell revolution. The company utilizes some of the most ingenious fabrics including GORE-TEX, schoeller, Windstopper and Polartec to make the comfortable Cloudveil jackets, Cloudveil sweatshirts, Cloudveil gloves and much more. Here is a short story for you. I tried to make my own jacket once out of some old towels and cotton balls. I sewed the towels and stuffed them with cotton balls. It didn't work too well. I guess I'm not as awesome as Cloudveil.
Anyways, you're probably wondering just what a soft shell is. Simply put, it's a bunch of stretch woven fabrics with durable water repellent (DWR) to protect the jacket, and the person wearing the jacket, from wind and precipitation. These soft shells are extremely breathable (more so than hard shells), while maximizing mobility. "So what Cloudveil jacket is best for me?" you ask. I have the answer. Or at least a couple suggestions.
Cloudveil Run Don't Walk Top - This is the pinnacle of Cloudveil soft shells. The Cloudveil Run Don't Walk top is made from Polartec Power Stretch fabric, making it comfortable and breathable. This sweatshirt is perfect for layering or can be worn all by itself. Either way, you have a versatile top that will keep you dry and warm.
Cloudveil FirsTurn Hooded Jacket - The Cloudveil FirsTurn Jacket is made from Cyclone Soft Shell fabric for excellent flexibility, breathability and awesomenessability. I'm not sure if the last one is a real word. But we'll just go with it. This Cloudveil soft shell is equipped with an attached hood for extra head protection.You can totally check out the other Cloudveil soft shell jackets to pick the one you like most. That seems a little mean to have to judge the jackets. But I guess that's what has to be done. And remember, there is more to Cloudveil than just soft shells. A large variety of Cloudveil jackets, Cloudveil shirts, Cloudveil hats and much more are all at your fingertips. Seize the opportunity young one.
CUSTOMER FEEDBACK from David (7/21/10): I just received my sweet new jacket with out sleeves from your new Fall 2010 collection as part of being a member of humans with influence. It is a really well made, well designed fleece vest. The pockets inside and out, the headphone port and the overall quality of the vest is really impressive. If it wasn't in the 80's out and July I would be rocking it hard core right now. I'm pretty stoked for fall to get here so I can really wear it. I looked and the fall line isn't up on the site yet, but when it is I am going to be one of the first people to write a review on it. The Moosejaw flag in the pocket is a pretty sweet idea as well.
